From my first visits to Shaker villages, in New England, I have been drawn to their simple elegant furniture. With a family, we wanted a business we could pursue here on the farm so we could be home while the children were young.
We stumbled upon an ad in Maine's famous trading magazine, Uncle Henry’s: "Shaker Chair Business for Sale." It felt like a match and Shaker View Furniture was born.

Our one employee, Ralph Tanner, has been with us since 1999. He is retired from the US Postal Service and loves working with his hands. He has built his own log cabin which he continues to finish when he isn't working for us. We are lucky to have him; he gives each chair the same loving care we do. Here he is carefully wrapping a bar stool for shipment.
